Job Description: 

POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and maintaining effective safety programs at designated BEPC facilities to prevent accidents, injuries, occupational illnesses, and property damage. The incumbent ensures compliance with safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations and supports a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement across all assigned locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Develop and maintain safety programs to prevent accidents and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct routine plant safety inspections and audits.
  • Lead or support accident investigations and ensure corrective actions are documented.
  • Conduct new employee safety orientations and job-specific safety training.
  • Maintain OSHA and other regulatory compliance reports.
  • Oversee safety committees and support a strong safety culture.
  • Provide technical input to safety committee operations and plant management.
  • Coordinate with First Responders and support fire prevention activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management or a related field and 3 years of safety experience in an industrial facility; or
  • Associate’s degree in safety or related field and 5 years of experience; or
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 7 years of safety experience in an industrial facility.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be respirator qualified.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous lead or supervisory experience.
  • Certifications in OSHA, NFPA, industrial hygiene, or related safety programs.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position requires constant sitting; occasional standing/walking, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, bending/reaching, and climbing. Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, vapors, fumes, noise, and extreme temperatures. Occasional work at heights up to 350 feet using harness equipment. May require confined space entry and use of testing tools.
