Job Description: 

POSITION PURPOSE

This position provides temporary, project-based assistance in Civil Engineering by assisting with conducting surveying services and activities as needed for BEPC and its subsidiaries . The incumbent possesses a basic knowledge of field operations, types of surveys, and is familiar with field equipment and procedures. Under the direction and supervision of a registered Land Surveyor, the incumbent will complete a variety of skilled tasks in the field and in the office. This position typically works 40-50 hours per week. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assist with field survey services for volumetric surveys of ponds, stockpiles and landfills, construction staking surveys, and property / boundary surveys for the establishment/ re-establishment of property corners and Public Land Survey System corners.
  • Maintain, clean, and care for survey equipment.
  • Download, maintain, and organize data to satisfy the computational and mapping requirements of the applicable project using surveying and CAD software.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year Surveying, GIS, Engineering, or Engineering Technology program with at least two semesters completed, or recent graduate (within the past 12 months)

OR

  • Be enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Land Surveying, GIS, Engineering, or Engineering Technology program with at least two years completed, or recent graduate (within the past 12 months).
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Transcript required at time of application. If your transcript is not attached at time of application, your application will not be reviewed.

 

This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous internship or relevant work experience.
  • Additional certifications or coursework in field of study.
     

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, using keyboard/computer and using foot controls; and occasional crawling and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. This position requires finger dexterity, good color vision, good hearing, and ability to perform close work. This position may work in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, and poor ventilation. This position frequently operates equipment and vehicles; and occasionally works around chemicals, electrical risks, in confined areas, and at heights up to 150 feet, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards.

Wage: $21.00 - 23.00/hour
