POSITION PURPOSE
This temporary position assists with the maintenance of hardware, software, system documentation, and will need to comply with all appropriate North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist with equipment and software installation, implementation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance required to support systems used for the operation of power plants and the generation of power.
- Assist with implementing data transfers between Basin Electric, Member cooperatives, Independent System Operators (ISOs), and balancing authorities.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of all documentation from the development and administration of a project plan through the project closeout process, and into the support cycle.
- Assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of customized scripts used in real time data collection, real time system operation, and collection of plant performance data.
- Assist with analyzing and applying operating system and application patches to energy systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related discipline with at least one year completed, or recent graduate (within the past 12 months).
OR
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering (EAC/ABET accredited) program, or related discipline with at least two years completed or recent graduate (within the past 12 months).
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.

This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous internship or relevant work experience.
- Additional certifications or coursework in field of study.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position uses small hand tools. This position requires finger dexterity, good hearing, and color vision, the ability to perform close work, and the ability to speak. The incumbent must be able to analyze data and reports, conduct research, and implement recommendations. This position occasionally works in conditions of dirt and dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, and noise. This position may be required to operate a motor vehicle or fly in Cooperative or commercial aircraft.
