Job Description: 

POSITION PURPOSE

This position provides temporary, project-based assistance in the Mechanical Engineering division at headquarters. The incumbent must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. The incumbent will gain exposure to Cooperative operations and practices while supporting teams with hands-on tasks and assignments appropriate to their field of study.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assist engineering staff on project assignments.
  • Verify as-built conditions and subsequent drawing updates.
  • Develop P&ID's, basic design elements, equipment sizing, etc.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations.
  • Follow safety, security, and procedural guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student four-year Mechanical Engineering (EAC/ABET accredited) program with Sophomore year completed, or recent graduate (within the past 12 months).
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Transcript required at time of application. If your transcript is not attached at time of application, your application will not be reviewed.
     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous internship or relevant work experience.
  • Additional certifications or coursework in field of study.
     

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending/reaching, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position occasionally may work in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and confined areas. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position may need to be respirator qualified. The incumbent is required to be clean-shaven for respirator fit testing while assigned to work on a plant site.
