POSITION PURPOSE
This position provides technical input and assistance to all areas of operations to ensure safe and compliant operation of the units. The incumbent will assist in managing and prioritizing on-going projects, assist in correcting operational issues and assist in compliance program(s) associated with the assigned section. This position will assist in putting engineering packages together for new projects and be involved in the project through completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide direction to the section staff to comply with regulatory requirements. Monitor section status to ensure compliance. Work directly with internal or external auditors to verify the condition of the compliance program.
- Relieve Area Operations supervisors and Section Manager during periods of vacation, illness, or other absences.
- Prioritize and perform modification of operating procedures, operating targets, equipment, catalysts and chemicals, feedstocks, and products under the general direction of the Section Manager or Compliance Program Supervisor.
- Coordinate efforts in compliance programs including section MOCs. Review problems or recommendations and work status with the Section Manager or Compliance Program Supervisor. Assist Section Manager with evaluation and prioritization of plant modification work orders.
- Assist Process Operations with troubleshooting problems and develop recommendations to correct the situation.
- Provide engineering assistance in preparation for and during turnaround.
- Exhibits a proactive attitude and work ethic by continually looking for process and equipment improvement opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited engineering program (Chemical or Mechanical programs preferred).
- A valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position requires frequent sitting; occasional standing, walking, stooping, bending, climbing stairs or ladders, kneeling, lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder level, and use of keyboard, computer, test equipment and tools. Requires finger dexterity, the ability to perform close work, good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. Exposed frequently to dirt and dust and occasionally to fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibrations, noise, confined areas, and working at heights up to 150 feet.
KEY SKILLS
- A broad understanding of engineering, knowledge of current plant process technologies and technical problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
