Job Description: 

POSITION PURPOSE

Attends and operates systems and associated auxiliary equipment related to the scrubber, bag houses, lime handling, and ash collection and disposal in a safe and efficient manner. Maintain equipment availability and ensures emission compliance limits are maintained.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Monitor all assigned equipment pertinent to area of responsibilities to efficiently maintain required power production. 
  • Isolate equipment and place tags as appropriate for safe equipment maintenance or inspection. 
  • Continually evaluate operating procedures, conditions, and results, and make recommendations to supervision. 
  • Perform all duties in compliance with safety regulations. 
  • Maintain accurate logs of conditions and observations on all assigned equipment; prepare written reports as requested; and inform the incoming crew of plant status. 
  • Assist other personnel in training for this position. 
  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance of equipment and buildings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 1 year of Power Generation, Thermal Plant, or related power plant experience; or
  • A Certificate of Completion in Power or Process Plant Technology.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of the Antelope Valley Station Scrubber Attendant Voluntary Qualification Program; and received experience proving proficiency to be classified as upgradeable (E qualified); or
  • Completion of the AVS Scrubber Attendant qualification program within 90 days of hire.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position requires constant standing and walking; frequent climbing, sitting, and lifting/carrying up to 75 pounds; and occasional pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds, bending, and reaching. The equipment used in this position includes hand, power, and pneumatic tools, skid steer loader, forklift, motor vehicles, ladders, jackhammers, man lifts, and power lifts. This position occasionally may be required to work in confined areas and at heights up to 300 feet at AVS or 600 feet at LOS, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards. Finger dexterity, the ability to speak, hand coordination, good hearing, color vision, and the ability to perform close work are required for this position. Working conditions frequently include noise and electrical risks; and occasionally extreme heat/cold, dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, vibration, and poor ventilation. This position must be respirator qualified.
