POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for assisting long-term power supply planning, sale, and purchase analysis that supports the development of Basin Electric’s long-term power supply planning activities, its Integrated Resource Plan, and other projects, as needed, to support and develop power supply planning activities. This position assists various economic evaluations of various power supply alternatives, validates broader power supply planning analysis. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assists with analytics to support the development of Basin Electric’s long-term planning, power sale and purchase activities, its Integrated Resource Plan and other projects as needed.  
  • Assists with various economic evaluations and quantitative analysis of various power supply alternatives. 
  • Analyzes Regional Transmission Organization (RTOs) market impacts as it relates Basin Electric load and resources. 
  • Researches and supports data gathering for analysis and input into the power supply planning model on both a Basin Electric and regional aspect. 
  • Assists in developing models that can be utilized for economic analysis and cost-benefit analysis.  
  • Assists with the preparation of Financial Forecast deliverables and reports. 
  • Assists with the preparation of Requests for Proposals, analyzes the results, and supports recommendations for resource procurement. 
  • Assists with Contract Management functions relating to power purchase agreements and assists other departments with support related to power purchase agreements.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, statistics, mathematics, engineering or related field.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. 

KEY SKILLS

  • Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals, and present information to others.
