Job Description: 

POSITION PURPOSE

This position is located at our Headquarters location in Bismarck, ND.

Responsible for the coordination and administration of the supply chain transportation process along with the development, and award of contracts and purchase orders to help manage logistics services throughout the Cooperative. These processes are performed in accordance with all Cooperative policies and procedures and other applicable laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Coordinate and schedule logistics services with major suppliers/manufacturers, construction project managers, operating facility personnel, and procurement division staff.
  • Develop and administer contracts with transportation companies; monitoring quality and efficiency of service.
  • Coordinate daily activity to track location and movement of truckload and heavy haul shipments of materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate timely, efficient, and cost-effective movement of freight from multiple contracts, projects, and to and from various locations.
  • Make logistics business decisions in project meetings with internal and external parties.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent records while improving systems for processing and tracking logistics activities.
  • Train Cooperative staff on all areas of freight movement, to include:

INCOTERMS

  • Heavy Haul
  • Less than truckload (LTL)
  • Truckload
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements
  • Load Restrictions
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business or related field; and 5 years of related experience in logistics operations; or 
  • Associate’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business or related field; and 7 years of related experience in logistics operations; or
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED); and 9 years of related experience in logistics operations.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time to other facilities or business establishments is required.
  • A valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with heavy haul and international freight.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision. Equipment operated includes computer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine, scanner, telephone, and other office equipment.
