POSITION PURPOSE
This temporary position assists the GCM team with supporting the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of GIS and Compliance systems. This position will analyze business processes, and provide user support. They will collaborate with IT professionals and business users to enhance the system’s functionality and alignment with organizational goals. The incumbent will gain exposure to Cooperative operations and practices while supporting teams with hands-on tasks and assignments appropriate to their field of study.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist in the collection, storage, and management of geospatial and compliance data.
- Provide technical support for GIS and Compliance software, troubleshooting issues, and assisting users within the IT department.
- Work closely with IT teams, GIS specialists, and compliance officers to support interdisciplinary initiatives.
- Participate in IT-related projects that require geospatial analysis or compliance review.
- Participate in system patching and upgrades of GIS and Compliance applications.
- Assist with the preparation of training materials and provide support to end-users during the roll-out of new functionalities or systems.
- Research emerging technologies in the GIS and Compliance discipline.
- Learn and apply GIS and Compliance best practices and methodologies to optimize system performance and business processes.
- Participate in meetings with business stakeholders to gather insights and provide feedback on system enhancements.
- Help develop and update training materials related to GIS applications and compliance procedures for internal use.
- Follow safety, security, and procedural guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in a two year Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline with at least one year completed or recent graduate (within the past 12 months).
OR
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline with at least two years completed or recent graduate (within the past 12 months).
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 (2.0 for select process plant technology roles).
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Transcript required at time of application. If your transcript is not attached at time of application, your application will not be reviewed.
This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous internship or relevant work experience.
- Additional certifications or coursework in field of study.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position uses small hand tools. This position requires finger dexterity, good hearing, and color vision, the ability to perform close work, and the ability to speak. The incumbent must be able to analyze data and reports, conduct research, and implement recommendations. This position occasionally works in conditions of dirt and dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, and noise.
