POSITION PURPOSE
This position is located at our Headquarters building in Bismarck, ND.
This position is for the summer months of 2027 (approximately May 17, 2027 through August 20, 2027).
This is a temporary position that assists the Transmission Services section at headquarters. The incumbent must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist with North American Electric Reliability Corporation/Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC/CIP) compliance.
- Assist engineering staff on project assignments.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of transmission system models.
- Conduct adequacy and reliability assessments of the transmission system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) electrical engineering program with at least two semesters completed; or
- Recently completed a four-year Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) electrical engineering program.
- At least 18 years of age.
- A minimum of a 2.5 grade point average (GPA).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and organization skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; and personal computers.
- Able to contribute to and work as part of a team.
- A valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous internship or relevant work experience.
- Additional certifications or coursework in field of study.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires the ability to communicate and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position occasionally may work in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and confined areas. This position may need to be respirator qualified. This position will travel approximately 20% of the time by car or cooperative/commercial plane.
