POSITION PURPOSE
This position is located at our Headquarters office in Bismarck, ND.
This position is open to varying levels based on experience.
This position provides analytical and operational support for fuel procurement, transportation, and regulatory compliance. Responsible for commercial activities for Dakota Coal Company (DCC), Wyoming Lime Producers (WLP), and Montana Limestone Company (MLC). This role owns recurring processes, ensures accurate contract administration and reporting, and independently analyzes operational and commercial data to support reliable fuel supply, financial accuracy, and efficient customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Administer fuel supply contracts, including tracking volumes, pricing, key terms, and compliance requirements.
- Analyze inventory levels, shipment activity, and freight costs; identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate directly with suppliers, transportation providers, and plant personnel to resolve delivery or logistics issues.
- Prepare and review regulatory filings (EIA, FERC, and related reports) for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audits.
- Manage customer order processing, contract tracking, and pricing verification with minimal oversight.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for routine and moderately complex customer inquiries.
- Reconcile shipment, contract, and pricing data to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
- Support contract renewals and amendments by verifying terms and maintaining documentation.
- Assist with forecasting, performance reporting, and customer account analysis.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, finance, or related field; and 3 years of related experience; or
- Associate’s degree in business, supply chain, finance, or related field; and 5 years of related experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of contract administration, coal, lime, limestone operations, and railcar fleet management.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. Job activities are performed in an office or field environment. This position may be occasionally exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, cold and heat.
