Job Description: 

POSITION PURPOSE

Support financial operations by managing the depository function of all checks and currency for Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and its subsidiaries. Assist with system testing, investment reporting, cash flow forecasting, and check processing. Ensure compliance with internal investment guidelines and provide backup to the Financial Operations team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manage cash assets by providing adequate security and internal controls.
  • Complete deposits and accounts receivable entries.
  • Perform daily remittance and printing of accounts payable checks, as well as bi-weekly payroll checks and remittance advices.
  • Enter investment security information in a computer-based investment portfolio monitoring and reporting system, verify the information on daily trade tickets and run reports.   
  • Confirm all cash transactions, verify accounting documentation, and ensure accurate general ledger entries.
  • Maintain a security compliance database to ensure the various investment portfolios comply with the standards and restrictions established by the Basin Electric Investment Portfolio Management document.
  • Develop and maintain detailed cash flow forecasts for subsidiaries.
  • Assist with the resolution of discrepancies and notify applicable banks of purchase and delivery instructions for securities and collateral to ensure the transactions settle in a timely manner.
  • Monitor investment maturity dates and ensure collateral is returned on time.
  • Communicate and coordinate with departments across Financial Services.
  • Provide backup coverage within the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Travel as required for business needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in banking, transaction processing, or investment support
  • Familiarity with investment systems and compliance tracking

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building. It includes occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, frequent use of a keyboard, computer, and other office productivity machinery. The role requires finger dexterity, hand coordination, and the ability to bend, kneel, lift/carry up to 10 pounds, and push/pull up to 20 pounds.
