POSITION PURPOSE

This position is located at our Headquarters building in Bismarck, ND. 

This position is open to varying levels based on experience. 

Plan, control, and execute sales and marketing programs for Dakota Gasification Company (DGC) to maximize the profitability of coal gasification product streams. This includes developing sales and marketing policies, methods, and procedures; providing marketing and sales advice to leadership; and implementing the Company's marketing strategy and sales plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Responsible for all sales and marketing activities for DGC chemicals, fuels, rare gases, and CO2, as delegated by the Manager, DGC Fuels & Chemicals Sales.
  • Responsible for coal residual products out of Basin Electric’s coal related plants, as delegated by the Manager, DGC Fuels & Chemical Sales.
  • Plan, manage, and oversee activities for the sale and marketing of established products and services. This includes identifying potential purchasers of product stream chemicals and developing business arrangements for their sale.
  • Initiate, plan, manage, and oversee economic analysis relating to expansion of existing sales markets, as well as development of new products. Present quarterly marketing analysis to supervisors and DGC Management.
  • Manage, maintain, and optimize relations between DGC/Basin customers, Basin Electric management, and Dakota Gas plant personnel to drive strategy and enhance product lines.
  • Aid in the evaluation, negotiation, and establishment of tariff and contract rates with railroad companies, in addition to railcar leases.
  • Ensure that products are marketed and sold in accordance with budgeted objectives to obtain maximum profitability and sales volume in relation to predetermined marketing and sales strategies.
  • Formulate and authorize potential sales incentive or other structured programs, which will result in increased profitable sales volume.
  • Responsible for the study, analysis, and reporting on market and economic conditions and government controls with respect to sales of products in the North American sales field and in the export markets.
  • Manage, develop and maintain customer contracts and relationships, including fully understanding the contract and terms, review and/or prepare contract-related documents, investigating and defining problem areas, conducting studies and reports recommending solutions or course of actions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, potential customers, partners, and stakeholders by ensuring excellent customer service and resolving all customer complaints in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, sales, supply chain, biology, chemistry, engineering or related degree; and 6 years of sales or marketing experience; or
  • Associate’s degree in a related field and 8 years of sales or marketing experience.
  • Up to 30% travel required.
  • A valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Related petroleum refining, petrochemical, fuel or gas experience.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending/reaching, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak.
