POSITION PURPOSE
Plan, control, and execute sales and marketing programs for Dakota Gasification Company (DGC) to maximize the profitability of coal gasification product streams. This includes developing sales and marketing policies, methods, and procedures; providing marketing and sales advice to the Manager, DGC Sales & Marketing; and implementing the Company's marketing strategy and sales plans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Oversee sales and marketing activities for DGC by-products from Basin Electric's coal-related plants.
- Plan, manage, and execute sales and marketing strategies, identifying potential purchasers and developing business arrangements.
- Conduct economic analysis for market expansion and new product development.
- Present quarterly marketing analysis to supervisors and DGC Management.
- Manage customer relationships, optimizing strategy and enhancing fertilizer products.
- Evaluate, negotiate, and establish tariff and lease contract rates with railroad and railcar companies.
- Ensure product sales align with budgeted objectives for maximum profitability.
- Develop and authorize structured sales incentive programs to increase revenue.
- Analyze and report on market conditions, economic trends, and regulatory impacts in North American and export markets.
- Manage customer contracts, including reviewing terms, investigating problem areas, and recommending solutions.
- Direct and resolve customer complaints to meet DGC's sales goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of marketing and sales normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, engineering or related degree; and 5 years of sales or marketing experience; or
- A high school diploma; and 9 years of sales or marketing experience.
- Frequent travel.
- A valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Related agriculture or fertilizer experience.
- Related petroleum refining, petrochemical, fuel or gas experience.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires the ability to communicate and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position may require frequent travel at times by car or Cooperative/commercial plane.
