POSITION PURPOSE
This position provides temporary, project-based assistance in multiple areas of Operations. This position will work 12-hour rotating shifts. The incumbent will gain exposure to Cooperative operations and practices while supporting teams with hands-on tasks and assignments appropriate to their field of study.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist with the monitoring of process operations by taking readings, monitoring field mounted controls, and checking temperatures, pressures, flows, and levels.
- Assist in the implementation of process control decisions by responding to changes in process demands, upsets, and emergencies.
- Assist in routine maintenance work.
- Follow safety, security, and procedural guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in a Process Plant or Power Plant Technology program with first year completed or a recent graduate (within the past 12 months).
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
- Hold a valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Requires frequent walking, standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder level; sitting, lifting 50 pounds from knee to shoulder high, crawling, pushing and pulling up to 30 pounds, and occasional hand grip up to 70 pounds, sitting, lifting 60 pounds from knee to shoulder high, crawling, pushing and pulling up to 90 pounds, and use of keyboard/computer and test equipment. Approximately 20% of the incumbent’s shift is spent operating equipment. Duties may include opening and closing valves and railcar hookups without assistance. Occasionally requires working in high climbing areas on grating, ladders, scaffolding, and other areas, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards; and may involve work in confined spaces. Over 50% of the incumbent’s shift is spent outdoors. Will be exposed to heat, cold, dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, and noise. Incumbents work a 12-hour rotating shift and are required to wear dust masks, respirators, and full-face Scott Air Paks when necessary. Requires good binocular vision, good color vision, good finger dexterity, and the ability to speak.

Wage: $28/hour
