POSITION PURPOSE
This position provides temporary, project-based assistance with performing organic, inorganic, and physical testing on a wide variety of samples to support plant process operations, environmental, and industrial hygiene. The incumbent may be expected to work a 12-hour rotating shift. The incumbent will gain exposure to Cooperative operations and practices while supporting teams with hands-on tasks and assignments appropriate to their field of study.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist with organic and inorganic analytical bench chemistry.
- Assists with calibrating instruments, troubleshooting testing procedure, logging samples into Lab information System, recording data produces, and validating results to meet rigorous quality control standards.
- Follow safety, security, and procedural guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in a science-based program (e.g., chemistry) with at least one year completed, or recent graduate (within the past 12 months).
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous internship or relevant work experience.
- Additional certifications or coursework in field of study.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position requires constant standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, reaching above and below shoulder level; and occasional climbing stairs and ladders, continuous hand coordination, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 25 pounds, frequent hand grip of up to 25 pounds, pinch grip of 10 pounds, use of keyboard/computer, tools and foot controls, and turning valves. This job requires the ability to read, write, perform arithmetic, weigh and measure, analyze data and reports, conduct research, present information to others, and work under pressure. Requires finger dexterity, color vision, binocular vision, hearing, the ability to speak and perform close work, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle. Works continuously with chemicals and operates laboratory instrumentation; exposed occasionally to dirt, dust, extreme heat, cold, and poor ventilation.
